Dental Implants in Dayton, Kettering, and Miamisburg, OH
Before development of dental implants, dentures and bridges were the only alternative to replacing a missing tooth or teeth.
Dental Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone and act as a foundation for a crown or bridges. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures.
Not everyone is a candidate for a dental implant, however. For a successful implant to take hold, a candidate must have proper bone density and have a strong immune system. In all cases, dental implants require strict oral hygiene.

Dental Implants are so well designed that they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Implants are usually made of a synthetic yet biocompatible material such as titanium.
Surgery is necessary to prepare the area for an implant and place the implant in the jaw. Following the procedure, a period of time is typically required for the implant to take hold and for bone tissue to build up and anchor the device. In some cases, metal posts are inserted into the implant during a follow-up procedure to connect the crown.

Because implants require surgery, patients are administered anesthesia and, if necessary, antibiotics to stave off infection following the procedure.
Like any restoration, implants require diligent oral hygiene and proper care to ensure they last a long time.

Patient Review

One of my front teeth (total replacement from over 50 years ago) finally wore out and came out on the golf course. I rushed to see Dr. Quinlan for a temporary fix and the entire staff made sure I went home with tooth intact. After this examination there were only two options and I went with a total implant. A local periodontist did some surgery and Dr. Quinlan finished the rest over a 7 month period. Yes, to do it correctly it takes time. The final appointment was two days ago and the implant feels great and better yet it matches perfectly! I have confidence in the entire staff and everyone, absolutely everyone is friendly, concerned with me as a patient and professional. I am more than happy with Almoney!

FAQ
What are dental implants, and how do they work?

Dental implants are permanent replacements for missing teeth. They consist of a small titanium post that’s placed in the jawbone to act as a root, topped with a custom crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth. Implants help preserve bone, restore bite strength, and blend seamlessly with your smile.
Am I a good candidate for dental implants?

Most healthy adults with one or more missing teeth are good candidates. Ideal candidates have sufficient bone to support the implant and healthy gums. If needed, we can recommend bone grafting or other treatments to help prepare your mouth for implants.
How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, dental implants can last many years—often a lifetime. Brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits are key to keeping the surrounding gums and bone healthy, which supports the long-term success of your implant.
